Welcome to Team NJM's Georgia Tech Strategic Plan Proposal!

Hello!

We are 3 Georgia Tech students (Nader Aboujamous, Jason Hoffman, and Matthew Lee) currently enrolled in LCC 3403: Technical Communication. Our final project was to read Georgia Tech's Strategic Plan and implement our own changes to the current Georgia Tech Plan.

Here is a summary of our proposed changes:

Executive Summary

After reviewing the Georgia Tech Strategic Plan, the team chose to consider how the institute can prepare and plan for the future in terms of academics. We have specifically identified the problem that students need better preparation for their future professions. Thus, in order to create a sense of permanence from the learning experienced in the classroom, it is proposed that lectures be recorded, particularly for the core classes. This reconstruction of the curriculum will allow both students and instructors to focus more on questions and problem solving in the classroom rather than theory-based content. In terms of preparation for careers in the real world, these application-focused lectures will enhance a student’s skill set and ability to perform in their careers. In addition, this restructuring of the curriculum leads to the conception of more customizable majors. Since it is proposed that classes focus more on an application of theory-based material, students will have the opportunity to take classes in which the skills they learn through these applications will directly help them succeed in their future careers. It is our hope that Georgia Tech will continue to strive to be at the forefront of technology and learning and serve as an example for the rest of the research institutes around the world.
